Hundreds Of Mountaineers Climb The Alps For Epic Photoshoot

It’s absolutely amazing what people can accomplish when they work together.

This is very special indeed. Bumped into it on ‘Bored Panda’. The video is quite impressive, the stills are truly marvelous. It’s an incredible concept, beautifully executed.

35 Urban Instagram photographers you should follow

The Guardian has posted a nice article on Instagram Photographers you might like to follow.

It’s worth taking a look.

I PULLED my Instagram account when the Facebook Rights Grab Debacle reared it’s ugly head. If you hadn’t heard back then, they flat out stated they could use or sell your images without notice or compensation. A LOT of people closed their accounts and after far too long, Facebook/Instagram back pedalled. One of the inconveniences was that you lost your account name when you closed it. P-I-T-A.

I have a new Instagram Account: Photomical

There’s some great work on here, check it out.

National Geographic SAYS: The Top 10 Compact Cameras for Travelers

Well it comes as no surprise.

My WONDERFUL little Fuji XE-2 comes in– in second place, right behind the Fuji XT-1 which came in first.

Here’s the LINK to the Article.

HONESTLY? If you haven’t seen the JPEGS that come out of the Fuji’s, they are extraordinary. Fuji’s COLOURS have their own unique flavour. I’m crazy about it.

So in this post, National Geographic lists the Ten Top Compact Cameras For Travel. I’ve mentioned before that I take the XE-2 with me. EVERYWHERE. I still ‘tweak’ my Jpegs if necessary, but I have the XE-2 set up to shoot both RAW +JPEGS. You just never can tell, can ya’?

I want you to bear in mind that these are ALL Jpegs. Some tweaking applied here and there but it was minimal at best.

With compacts, there IS no ‘One Size Fits All’, but the Mirrorless Cameras were and are a stroke of genius. I ain’t the spring chicken I used to be and a Canon 5DMarkIII with dual battery grip and an Arca Swiss L Bracket,  a 16-35/2.8L, Zeiss 21/2.8 Distagon, 24-105/4, 70-200/2.8LII, 100-400-4.5/5.6, 580EXII and sundry extra supplies weighs far, far more than I’m comfortable with in a backpack. An UNGODLY amount. I used to haul it with a little grumbling. Now? Ugggh. I actually bought the XE-2 to use for a work Camera and although I’m not fully convinced that it’s up to that, YET… it’s a superb little Camera.

Ta DA! A FULL Review Of The New Canon G7x!

Canon_G7X_slant_450

Y’know? I’ve been watching. I’ve noticed a BOATLOAD of you good people have been coming back on more than a few occasions to read my posts on the NEW Canon G7x. SO? You’re really gonna’ love this little jewel!

It’s a thoroughly exhaustive review of the wee beastie with High Rez images from it posted on FLICKR. It don’t get much better than that!

Here’s the LINK

Now, I’ve got to admit, I adore my Canon S95, but I really kinda’ covet this little guy a bunch more, if only for the apertures and the zoom ranges. The only thing it’s lacking, in my books, is the one thing I use on my Fuji XE-2 ALL the time and that is the EVF. (*Electronic View Finder). If it had that, for ME at any rate, it would be positively irresistible. Canon really hit it out of the park with this little guy.

Enjoy, feel free to share and post comments.

iPhoneography

I haven’t picked up an iPhone 6. Yet.

However, according to more than a few reviews it now contains the best Smartphone Camera there is.

I’ve yet to see THIS.

In the meantime there’s THIS.

For now, I continue to plod along with my outdated iPhone4, which as of now, can’t even handle an iOS update. : “(

Still, I’m always glad I have it along.  Shot this at Big T’s BBQ Shack yesterday. Did some post in Lightroom 5 but it’s a simple grab shot that seemed to work out just fine.

Bruce Gilden-Street Photographer

Been blogging about Street Photography and I just ran across this.

This is Bruce Gilden. He was born and raised in NYC. He’s won a long string of credits and awards and he also does Street Shooting.

As much as I enjoy street shooting and manage to bag the odd image that I quite enjoy, I could never, ever, do it like this. I’m surprised that he manages to pull this off without a LOT of hassle. Afterall, he’s in New York…

All I could think of when I first watched this clip was “Holy Cow”.

What’s YOUR thoughts on this? With my luck I’d get punched in the nose for pushing it this hard. No Guts, No Glory I suppose.

Apologies for the ‘subs’ on the one viddy.
